Tungsten Electrode Wolfram WP Green

WP Pure Tungsten Electrode is a traditional, un-alloyed TIG welding electrode. Identified globally by its Green color code tip, it is composed of 99.5% pure tungsten and is engineered specifically for un-pulsed Alternating Current (AC) TIG welding.

The WP Green electrode (classified as EWP or WP) is the classic standard for welding aluminum and magnesium alloys. Unlike doped electrodes that use rare earth oxides to maintain a sharp point, pure tungsten has a lower thermal threshold. When subjected to AC current, the tip naturally and cleanly melts back into a perfect, smooth dome or ball (calotte). This rounded geometry creates a wide, soft, and balanced arc cone that maximizes the oxide-cleaning action necessary for a clean aluminum weld puddle.

Because it contains zero doping elements, it has a higher electron work function and lower current-carrying capacity than alloyed alternatives like Lanthanated or Thoriated needles.

If used in Direct Current (DC) mode, the arc tends to wander, and the tip can split or spit tungsten fragments into the joint. It contains no radioactive components, making it safe to grind and sharpen without specialized dust extraction setups.
