Tungsten Electrode Wolfram WS2

Wolfram Industries WS2 (WITSTAR) is a premier, non-radioactive rare earth mixed-oxide TIG welding electrode. Identified by its distinctive Turquoise / Aqua color code tip, it is engineered as a high-performance, environmentally safe replacement for radioactive 2% thoriated (red) tungsten electrodes.

The WS2 WITSTAR electrode was pioneered in Germany by Gesellschaft für Wolfram Industrie as a universal, "all-in-one" solution. It is doped with a scientifically balanced 2.0% blend of rare earth oxides (including lanthanum, yttrium, and zirconium oxides) rather than a single additive.

This mixed-oxide formula lowers the electronic work function, enabling the needle to strike a stable, highly concentrated arc effortlessly at minimal voltages. It functions across both Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) TIG welding.

Because its tip runs cooler under massive thermal loads than traditional formulations, the WS2® features long-term geometric stability with minimal tip degradation or arc fluttering. This makes it the global standard for mechanized automated systems, robotic cells, and high-purity manual applications.

Additionally, because it contains no thorium, sharpening or grinding the tip generates regular metallic dust that poses no radiological health hazards to the operator.
