Tungsten Electrode Wolfram WZr8 White

WZr8 Zirconiated Tungsten Electrode is a professional-grade TIG welding electrode doped with 0.8% zirconium oxide. Identified globally by its White color code tip, it is engineered as a high-performance alternative for Alternating Current (AC) TIG welding.

The WZr8 electrode (classified as EWZr-8 or WZ8) is widely regarded as an upgraded alternative to pure tungsten (green) when welding aluminum and magnesium alloys. Pure tungsten can easily spit or melt back too far under intense heat, but the addition of 0.8% zirconium oxide strengthens the tungsten matrix. This allows it to carry a higher electrical current while resisting thermal shock and alloy contamination.

When used in AC mode, the tip naturally and cleanly melts back into a uniform, smooth dome or ball (calotte). This geometry creates a highly stable, concentrated arc cone that resists wandering, allowing for deep penetration and clean puddle control.

Because it retains its rounded shape so well, it minimizes the risk of tungsten spitting fragments into the weld pool, ensuring high-purity, X-ray-quality finishes. It contains zero radioactive materials, making it safe to grind and sharpen without specialized dust extraction setups.
